Totara Athletics Day

On the 25th of October we did Athletics and we had lots of fun.

The events were discus, shot put, high jump, long jump, sprints 50m, 60m and 80m and long distance.

For shot put I was in third place for throwing 5.25m and I got a ribbon. That is now my best throw.
For getting third in shot put, I may be going to zones and I am so happy.

We had to go in three events but could go in more if we wanted to. I did shot put, long jump and 50m sprints. We all had to do long distance and I had to run around the track 5 times.

Thank you for reading this. I hope you liked it. Please comment thanks.

Wearable Arts

Wearable art is where you make and wear your own art.

This year we are on street art and we have big spray cans for it.

I am doing past, present and future.

For the Wearable Arts School Production I am in a group doing a dance for the sport spray can.

Here is the spray can being painted before it was rolled up.

The bottom picture shows all of the painted spray cans before they were rolled up.

If you want to come to our production, you will need to buy tickets from The Shop section of our school website www.hoonhay.school.nz
They are $10 for each adult and $5 per child. The production is on from 13th-15th September.

Have you got your tickets yet?

Rad Rhythm

We have been doing Rad Rhythm in our class and we have been practising it. There are different types like the gym which we are now doing now.

Rad Rhythm is where you do drumming on big plastic bins. You will have a lot of fun when you are doing it.

You can do it with your class or you can do it with your friends. You can show it to other people, then they can help other people do it, then it will go on and on and on.

Can you do it? Would you be interested in it? I hope you will comment on this post.

Maths

I will be doing some of my maths in this post. Underneath is some of my maths thinking. I am working on my 9 times table now, but here I can show you some adding.

47+83=130

This is how I worked it out.

40+80=120
7+3=10
120+10=130

This is called the place value strategy. Thanks for reading my blog.

Matariki

In class we have been leaning about Matariki. We have seen a play at school about Matariki and they have told us all about Matariki.

Matariki is the Maori new year and a time for celebration.

Matariki is a group of stars known as the seven sisters. They are also called Gods eyes or little eyes. Their names are Waiti, Waita, Waipuna-a-rangi, Tupu-a-nuku, Tupu-a-rangi, Ururangi and Matariki.

The seven sisters come out in late May and early June.

Did you know about Matariki? Feel free to comment on my Matariki post and I hope you have learnt a lot on my post.

Survival

We went to camp at Spencer pack on Wednesday and we did a session called forest survivor and we did hut building. It was fun and we ate huhu grubs.  I am going to tell you how to survive when you are in the forest or you might be going for a walk.  You will need water, food and sometimes you will need warm clothes and shelter and if you are staying the night then you will need a fire.

Storybird

STORYBIRD

You can go to storybird and you can write a story. It can be put in a library and some people can read it.
All you need to do is to write up this Storybird. When you have finished you have now made a book.  You can do one like my one, but you will need to have three poems and then you can put it on your blog.

What do you think? Do you like it? Can you do one? I would love to see it.
